It could be a conversation you enter into in line at Fresh Market, or with that odd fellow you silently prayed wouldn't sit next to you on your flight. Maybe you're yucking it up at a friend's birthday bash and meet a Nabisco representative who is seeking new Oreo cookie combinations - and you, being an expert judge in all matters of taste, have some insight on the subject of these temptress devils. What am I talking about? I know you already know.... it's Opportunity, with a capital O, and it rarely knocks twice. I've heard stories of it actually knocking down doors, after suffering bloody knuckles, and the person still didn't answer it. How sad.
The big O happens often. How often is an obscure thought, one we can't wrap our heads around because the thought of amazing, life-changing O's presenting themselves daily, and we miss them - can be a depressing, albeit devastating, thought. To not miss these O's would require us to be wide open, intellectually, at all times. Not too realistic with life being busy and all, or is it? I believe staying positive and open to hearing, seeing and sniffing out these O's isn't as hard as it may seem. Becoming acutely aware of our surroundings and daily interactions, both socially and professionally, should spark our Spidey Senses. These senses didn't escaped Peter Parker, therefore we owe it to ourselves, as Marvel Comic supporters (own it!) to make every attempt to take note of them. I'm not suggesting using these Spidey's to help us seek out imminent danger, even though you may long to sling webs from the palms of your hands and fly seamlessly between tall buildings, (really, who doesn't?) let's leave that job to our gut feelings and sixth sense...or Mommy Radar, (we ought not mess with that, it's powerful stuff). Rather, I'm suggesting simply paying attention to what the Universe is tossing up. Let your conscious self be aware for one full day. Try it today. Just remember this passage and let the idea of "this interaction may matter" not evade you. Listen, look and even sniff. It's there, just maybe not as obvious as a rock in your shoe.
Remember this...does an unanswered Opportunity that knocks on your door arrive then at someone else's door? You better believe it. That's known as a missed Opportunity.
